The Electric Boat Quonset Point Facility Employees’ Community Service Association each year collects employee contributions and distributes them to a deserving local nonprofit organization. This year, the community service association decided to donate $1,000 to the GCMF. This generous gift will enable us to continue providing assistance for sepsis education, research, and to support children and families affected by sepsis.

Blake Laverdiere, Manager of Operations at Electric Boat and chair of its community service association, presented the gift to several GCMF board members at our Mother’s Day 5k walk/run. It was an emotional moment for all. Blake and his wife Marilyn lost their 14-year-old son Justin to pediatric cancer in 2003. With this gift, he and the other employees at Electric Boat honored the memory of both Justin and Gianna by doing something good for others. We so appreciate their generosity.
